My intention for this reading was the question: What story have I outgrown, so I can now live my truth more deeply?
In the reading I mentioned Lewis Hine. His story adds an extra dimension to the themes of the Cross from the Lenormand. I am in no way trying to valourise suffering, but I also don’t believe it helps to deny what it actually takes to live by our beliefs and values. For me, Hine is the embodiment of the counter to the prevalent social norm of ‘if it doesn’t benefit me, validate me, or comfort me, it’s not worth doing‘.
“Perhaps you are weary of child labour pictures. Well, so are the rest of us, but we propose to make you and the whole country so sick and tired of the whole business that when the time for action comes, child labour pictures will be records of the past.” ~ Lewis Hine
