During the Sagittarius season readings, one thing became strikingly clear: each zodiac sign is on a distinct quest shaped by Pluto’s transformative energy. This journey isn't random - it’s a story that unfolds through the areas of life Pluto has touched. Pluto’s long trek through Capricorn has ended and its transition into Aquarius until 2044 is complete. Check out my ‘Pluto in Aquarius’ post for my initial thoughts on this shift. Aquarius is associated with the individuals that make up the collective. For each sign, Pluto has been dismantling and reconstructing a specific area of life in Capricorn, and in Aquarius. Indeed, this is true for each person, but as always, we can explore our individual journeys through this look at the twelve signs of the zodiac. Pluto in Aquarius will ask us to build on those experiences in a way that feels both radical and liberating.
Pluto’s transits are never gentle. They’re seismic, stripping away anything that no longer serves so we can step into a more authentic expression of ourselves. As someone who experienced Pluto crossing my ascendant back in 2001, and now my sun since April 2023, I understand this statement more intimately than I would probably have ever chosen. What you’ve experienced during Pluto’s time in Capricorn since 2008 has fundamentally reshaped you. And what comes next with Pluto in Aquarius will take that hard-earned transformation and challenge you to use it in a forward-thinking, innovative way.
It’s important to note that while these transits are expressed through individual signs, we are each an embodiment of all twelve signs and their themes. I usually approach transits or placements with this quick understanding: planets show what is happening, signs how and the house in the chart reveals where. These energies play out across the whole of our birth chart, affecting different areas of life in nuanced ways. No one is just one sign. The complexity deepens as other outer planets like Neptune and Uranus also shift signs in the next six months, weaving their own changes and narratives into the fabric of this transformative period. This broader astrological context alters how Pluto’s energy interacts with both our personal lives and the collective. While we can’t predict the exact details of how these changes will transpire, which is why we have been looking at the unknown this season, we can gain a sense of the flavour and engage with it intentionally. From deeply personal experiences to far-reaching societal shifts, there is no doubt that we are in a moment of profound evolution.
So, here’s a quick look into the themes Pluto has brought to each sign in Capricorn and what it will call for in Aquarius and what this could mean for the collective:
Aries: The Climb to Authentic Leadership
Pluto in Capricorn (10th house): For Aries, Pluto’s focus has been on career and public image. This was a dismantling of outdated ambitions and a confrontation with the fear of failure or rejection in positions of authority. It’s been a period of refining your goals and stripping your public persona down to its most authentic core.
Pluto in Aquarius (11th house): Now, it’s time to take that redefined sense of authority and channel it into community. Lead boldly in group settings and let your voice inspire collective change. Your quest is to move beyond personal ambition and into a space of progressive influence.
Collective Impact: As Aries embodies authentic leadership within communities, the collective experiences a revolution in how power is shared and action is taken. This shift raises questions about authority itself: What does it mean to lead in a way that uplifts the many rather than the few? Could Aries’ courage to act boldly inspire a collective leap into a more decentralised, collaborative model of leadership? These are the seeds of societal innovation, sparked by Aries’ trailblazing spirit, where the emphasis will be on leading by example and not ‘rules for thee but not for me’.
Taurus: From Dogma to Practical Wisdom
Pluto in Capricorn (9th house): Pluto pushed Taurus into an intense reckoning with belief systems. Whether it was about education, travel, or spirituality, you’ve been asked to question the larger frameworks guiding your life. What you once took for granted has likely crumbled (including your notion of self with Uranus transiting your 1st house since 2018).
Pluto in Aquarius (10th house): Now, you’re asked to embody that hard-won wisdom in your public life. This is your time to be an innovator in your career and society at large, using the truths you’ve uncovered to guide your professional path. This was very evident in your Sagittarius season reading with the message of a new kind of leadership.
Collective Impact: Taurus anchors a collective shift by redefining what it means to build a stable, grounded foundation in a rapidly evolving world. As Taurus integrates innovation into traditional structures, the collective begins to question: How do we merge practicality with progress? What does it mean to create enduring systems that also remain adaptable? Taurus offers the blueprint for a future where sustainability meets ingenuity.
Gemini: The Alchemy of Intimacy
Pluto in Capricorn (8th house): Deep transformations around intimacy, shared resources, and power have been central for Gemini. You’ve been forced to face fears of dependency and loss while learning how to trust and share.
Pluto in Aquarius (9th house): Now, it’s about expanding your horizons. The intimacy work you’ve done will fuel your ability to seek truth, wisdom, and adventure in entirely new ways. Your quest is to turn emotional depth into philosophical growth.
Collective Impact: Gemini’s exploration of transformative ideas bridges the gap between emotional and intellectual realms for the collective. This raises new possibilities: How do we integrate deeply personal experiences into broader narratives of growth and understanding? Gemini invites the collective to rethink education, communication, and cultural exchange as tools for profound connection and evolution.
Cancer: Transforming Relationships
Pluto in Capricorn (7th house): For Cancer, relationships have been the crucible of transformation. Power dynamics, boundaries, and commitments have been tested, often painfully. You’ve had to let go of old paradigms of connection.
Pluto in Aquarius (8th house): With this foundation, you’re now invited to deepen your understanding of shared power and resources. This is a time to embrace vulnerability and explore unconventional ways of relating. The work you’ve done on balance in relationships will now help you navigate profound emotional and financial intimacy.
Collective Impact: Cancer’s transformative relationship work lays the groundwork for a collective reimagining of trust and interdependence. What does it mean to build structures that support mutual empowerment rather than control? Cancer’s evolution sparks new frameworks for partnerships, challenging the collective to approach power-sharing with greater empathy and depth. I also see this transit as encouraging us to see more of the inherent value of human beings, rather than just a means to an end.
Leo: From Burnout to Bold Alignment
Pluto in Capricorn (6th house): Pluto forced Leos to confront toxic productivity, unhealthy routines, and perhaps even physical health crises. It’s been about stripping away what doesn’t serve your well-being.
Pluto in Aquarius (7th house): With this transformation, your focus shifts to relationships. You’re ready to build dynamic, authentic connections that reflect your newfound sense of balance. Your quest is to integrate the lessons of self-care into how you share your life with others.
Collective Impact: Leo’s shift toward balanced relationships offers a model for collective well-being. As Leo demonstrates the power of authentic connection, the collective begins to question: What does it mean to create communities built on mutual respect and care? Leo’s radiant example invites society to move beyond performative connections into something more genuine and transformative.
Virgo: The Liberation of Creativity
Pluto in Capricorn (5th house): For Virgo, Pluto has been working on your creativity, joy, and sense of self-expression. It’s been a journey of breaking through fears of inadequacy and reclaiming your right to shine.
Pluto in Aquarius (6th house): Now, it’s time to apply that creative energy to your daily life. Whether it’s through your work, health, or acts of service, your quest is to bring inspired solutions to practical problems. The South Node moving through your sign will make this a theme for much of the next couple of years, check out my post on the nodes for more thoughts on this.
Collective Impact: Virgo’s ability to innovate in daily life sparks a collective reconsideration of how systems and routines can evolve. This raises profound questions: What does a future shaped by thoughtful, creative solutions look like? How can we harness individual ingenuity to reshape collective processes? Virgo’s transformation offers a pathway toward practical, sustainable progress. This would mean our material reality itself would be changed at a fundamental level and I believe it is going to lead to more bespoke and personalised solutions in the areas of health and life optimisation. If ever there was going to be a cure for cancer, this would be the transit for it.
Libra: Building Foundations
Pluto in Capricorn (4th house): Pluto has taken Libra to the depths of home, family, and emotional foundations. You’ve likely faced ancestral healing, power struggles at home, or even a literal transformation of your living space. Most powerfully, you may have been forced to confront those barriers to being comfortable in your own skin and your own neglected emotional needs.
Pluto in Aquarius (5th house): This transformation now becomes the foundation for bold self-expression. With a secure base, you’re free to create, love, and lead with confidence.
Collective Impact: Libra’s ability to create from a place of emotional stability inspires the collective to rethink what it means to feel safe and supported. By introducing themes of partnership and collaboration into collective creativity, Libra encourages a world where mutual cooperation becomes a driving force for innovation. How can we balance individual expression with shared creative goals? Libra invites us to imagine a society where collaboration fuels collective joy and progress.
Scorpio: Empowering Communication
Pluto in Capricorn (3rd house): Pluto’s focus for Scorpio has been on communication and mindset. This has been about transforming how you think, speak, and connect with your environment. This is massive for a sign known more for that which is mysterious and hidden, but then it would be as Pluto is your ruler.
Pluto in Aquarius (4th house): Now, you’re invited to take this empowered voice and use it to create emotional security. Whether through family or your inner world, your quest is to build a nurturing, innovative home base. Basically, it’s time to communicate about the deep seat of your emotional power, in ways you (probably no-one) has ever done before.
Collective Impact: Scorpio’s empowered communication paves the way for collective emotional healing. Your ability to articulate deep truths helps others find security in transformation. What would a world look like where transparency and authenticity become the cornerstones of our shared experience? Scorpio’s insights may redefine what it means to truly connect, and as with Cancer, we will be encouraged to recognise our inherent natures and needs. I see massive changes in what we are now willing to share about ourselves and recognise in others and this has the potential to bring about more empathy and understanding.
Sagittarius: Redefining Worth
Pluto in Capricorn (2nd house): For Sagittarius, Pluto’s journey through the 2nd house has been about redefining values, self-worth, and material resources. This period likely brought fluctuations in finances, shifts in how you earn money, and challenges to the things you thought defined your worth. You have likely faced a reckoning with attachments to approval, external validation, or traditional measures of success, learning to ground your sense of value internally.
Pluto in Aquarius (3rd house): Building on these lessons, Pluto’s shift into the 3rd house invites you to explore new ways of sharing your truth. This is a time for innovative self-expression, expansive communication, and connecting through curiosity and ideas rather than material markers of value.
Collective Impact: Sagittarius inspires the collective to rethink abundance and value, challenging outdated norms of wealth and ownership. Could a future built on shared knowledge, creativity, and intellectual exchange outweigh one dominated by material accumulation? Your bold vision of open dialogue and collaborative innovation might hold the key to a more equitable and inspired world.
Capricorn: The Phoenix Rising
Pluto in Capricorn (1st house): Pluto has reshaped your identity, forcing you to confront who you truly are. You’ve shed old layers of self and stepped into a more powerful, authentic version of yourself. I think we will see more indicators of this come Capricorn season this year, as it will be the first without Pluto there, in over a decade and a half.
Pluto in Aquarius (2nd house): With this newfound self, you’re now tasked with redefining your relationship to resources and values. Your quest is to manifest your inner transformation into tangible forms of stability and abundance.
Collective Impact: Capricorn’s redefinition of self and value offers the collective a roadmap for navigating change with integrity. How do we build systems that honour both individuality and collective stability? Your transformation may inspire others to find strength in authenticity while reimagining societal frameworks. I think most notably we will see this in our relationship with the role and even the notion of top down institutions, especially in terms of collective values. The first stop will be governments and financial institutions.
Aquarius: Awakening the Visionary
Pluto in Capricorn (12th house): Pluto’s work in the shadows has been profound for Aquarius. You’ve faced hidden fears, karmic cycles, and deep spiritual transformation.
Pluto in Aquarius (1st house): Now, it’s time to step into the light. This is your moment to embody the visionary and lead by example. Your quest is to use your unique power to inspire progress and change. It’s time to fly the freak flag that has always made you doubt where you belong, so we can all recognise that we were freaks all along.
Collective Impact: Aquarius’ embodiment of visionary leadership ignites collective innovation. What happens when individual brilliance becomes the spark for societal evolution? Your insights challenge the world to embrace progressive thinking and reimagine the future through a lens of possibility. Power lies with the collective now, and based on how much each individual is willing to show up, will determine our collective future. This will challenge any and all practices that force individuals to conform and where the worth of the individual is overlooked, while also ironically, challenging extreme individualism.
Pisces: Healing the Collective
Pluto in Capricorn (11th house): Pluto has transformed Pisces’ relationships with groups, communities, and ideals. You’ve had to let go of toxic friendships and align with your highest vision.
Pluto in Aquarius (12th house): Building on this, you’re now invited to deepen your spiritual connection and guide others through unseen realms. Your quest is to heal karmic wounds and serve as a beacon for collective healing.
Collective Impact: Pisces’ spiritual wisdom leads the collective toward greater compassion and understanding, fostering unity in a fragmented world. What does it mean to live in a society where empathy and interconnectedness guide decision-making? Your vision may inspire the collective to embrace a more soulful approach to progress, in ways that embrace the mysterious and even mystical.
Each sign’s Pluto journey tells a story of profound transformation - one that isn’t over. Pluto’s move into Aquarius asks us to take the structures we’ve rebuilt and push them toward innovation, authenticity, and collective growth. The work you’ve done in Capricorn lays the foundation for something new. This next chapter will require courage, creativity, and a willingness to embrace the unknown.
As we leave this Sagittarius season, and head into what I imagine will be a very different Capricorn season, I would ask you to consider the following: What’s your Pluto story so far, and how do you envision building on it in Aquarius? How might these archetypal shifts ripple through your life and the world around you?
I will leave you with this quote from David Bohm:
“There is a difficulty with only one person changing. People call that person a great saint or a great mystic or a great leader, and they say, 'Well, he's different from me - I could never do it.' What's wrong with most people is that they have this block - they feel they could never make a difference, and therefore, they never face the possibility, because it is too disturbing, too frightening.”
